There are various types of headache..
A dull aching pain would be a sign of tension or sinus headache.
But some can be slightly dangerous.
A headache can come as a result of a brain aneurysm, tumors or bleeding inside the brain.
1. A thunderclap headache
It is a sudden onset headache and the first 60 seconds are probably the worst. It is unbearable and it could be a sign of bleeding in the brain.
2. Exercise or $ex induced headache
That indicates a brain aneurysm or a tumor.
3. Headache with blurring of vision
It is a sign of stroke, and it could also be accompanied with slurring of speech and mental confusion.
4. The 'worst' ever
If a headache is a common occurrence, even if it's probably the worst one ever, you should get yourself checked.
5. Headaches after 50 years of age
These can be dangerous and could indicate atherosclerotic changes in the large arteries of the brain.
6. Headache after a head injury
A headache with other symptoms like dizziness and mental confusion could be as a result of a concussion.
7. Cluster headache
If your headache is only confined to the area around one eye, it is called a cluster headache. It is often accompanied with nausea or vomiting and comes as a result of a brain aneurysm.
8. Meningitis headache
A stiff neck, fever and a headache are classical symptoms of meningitis.
9. Headache getting worse after 24 hours
It's a sign of an ongoing stroke in your brain which is getting worse so visit an emergency room at your earliest.
10. A 'different' kind of headache
If you have a history of cancer, and you're suddenly suffering from an unusual kind of headache, it might be a sign that the cancer is building up in the brain as a tumor.
So, don't ignore that headache
Make sure that you are aware of the symptoms and you take the necessary treatment before it's too late.
